Good article, you don't mention spun article distribution which can also be helpful IF the articles are written well enough, good when combined with guest posts and other link building. Trouble is most spinners produce absolute rubbish, you can however produce good rewrites if you know how to use spinrewriter.

Hi John,

I just cannot get it to repeat now though at least one other person says they saw it too! I’ve tried different browsers and pcs. Still have not seen the other new layouts I was hoping to see for myself either (sticky search box and sidebars, long scroll first page). Guess I’ll just keep an eye out for other experiments over the next few days.

Good info, succinct and to the point. It’s also good to know (as of 17th May 2011) that there is “competitive measurement” bar on the Google AdWords tool which measures how many people are buying into these keywords- a rough measure of how much money/store businesses are putting into them. It’s no definitive measurement of conversion but it’s interesting none the less.
