Is Google Allowing 40 Characters in Adwords Now?

Just saw this today, is Google expanding the Adwords character limit? It has always been 35 characters including spaces to my knowledge but I’ve often wondered if it might expand sometime. Maybe Google are experimenting? If so, it might attract more advertisers as it may be perceived as ‘easier’ to get a message across!
